The next club meeting sees the welcome return of the Club’s favorite guest speaker.  John Lea FRPSL, returns for his third visit to round off his postal history collection by covering the “Americas”.

The club meeting on 21st July 2008 saw the return of Guest Speaker, John Hayward.  This time John gave a presentation from a Show Judges point of view.   For example how to display material, what can or cannot be displayed and so on.

The Club meeting on 16th June included a members Thematic competition featuring the letter G.  

The club meeting on the 19th May 2008 was the Club’s Annual General Meeting.  Please see the Committee page for a link to the minutes, Chairmans Report, Treasurers Report and accounts and the Secretarys Report.

The club meeting on 21st April 2008 saw the first visit to the club by Gavin Fryer FRPSL.  Gavin presented a display of King George VI Dulac definitives with emphasis on the 2½d issues.

At the club meeting on 10th March 2008 the club held a “Swap Shop” followed by a general discussion on philatelic Matters.

At our meeting on 18th February the Club welcomed the return of guest speaker John Lea, FRPSL, who gave  a presentation on the Postal History of Asia and Australasia.

The Mayor of Guildford Councillor Mike Nevins and the Mayor of Woking Councillor Bryan Cross both attended this club meeting.

The club meeting on 21st January 2008 consisted of a ”swap shop” followed by a general discussion on all and any matters relating to philately.     

The Club meeting on the 21st December introduced our first ever Members Display on the theme of Christmas and a Christmas Social evening.

For the Christmas Stamp display members created a display on 2 A4 size pages centred around the world of Christmas Stamps or Postal History.  The best display by Harry Coupland was awarded a small prize of a bottle of champagne.

The evening was open to members spouses/partners and light refreshments including mince pies and wine were available. 

Our guest speaker at this meeting was Rotarian Mr Michael Gosney who gave a presentation on The Wallis Collection.   The presentation provided, by way of various philatelic items of postal history and stamp issues, a history of the Rotary Club since its creation in 1905
